Oropi Organic Kiwifruit, Options for Lifestyle
Organic Oropi has a nice ring to it - for many reasons. With organic green kiwifruit and BioGro certification, returns from this orchard offer a golden opportunity and lifestyle to match.
This was amongst the first orchards in Oropi to go organic in 1989. Others have since converted to create a lovely enclave of growers here. It's also the first time this property has been for sale as an organic orchard.
Less than 200m above sea level, it enjoys ideal growing conditions and better cooling for bud burst. Land totals just over 4ha - 8 well-sheltered blocks, 2.26can/ha certified organic Hayward green and 0.35can/ha top-grafted back to Hayward in 2018. Formally certified KiwiBerry, this block will be fully producing in 3 years and re-certified by BioGro NZ by then.
While the orchard is fully managed you could run it yourself. Consistent orchard gate returns show premium prices. All fruit is exported; the vendors adding that Zespri's outlook is bright as demand for organic produce continues to increase.
8.5 kms up Oropi Road, the orchard might seem lost in idyllic charm, yet the drive down to SH29 puts it in close touch with Tauranga and beyond.
Being manageable, this is an ideal orchard if you seek a viable business and lifestyle in a healthy environment, while working elsewhere. This is a family-orientated community. Oropi School has a good reputation and buses run to colleges. The local hall is a social hub and Oropi News highlights numerous clubs and connections. Hot pools and cafe are just 3kms away.
Nestling in seclusion, this comfortable family home sits in gorgeous grounds with macadamias, fruit and flowers. A separate studio for artists or teens is a retreat tucked amid veges and gardens. Bore water, laundry with its own hot water, garage/workshop, carport, shedding and implements are included as well.
Go green and enjoy organic - maybe not organic gold, but certainly a golden opportunity.
